Capability is scored for both standards from the same design research, re-weighted. The money is not: a coastal refit has to be costed on its own, which is why it can read “not analysed” above while the score beside it is real.
Assistant's read — an opinion, not a source
- The new visual inventory materially improves MALUHIA's documentation and narrows several refit uncertainties.
- Current evidence confirms the exact HIN and USCG identity, recreational documentation through July 2030, U.S. construction in Marion, South Carolina, a 200W Renogy array whose controller was energized and apparently charging, the 440Ah Lifeline AGM house-bank configuration, Balmar 95A/MC-614 charging, Xantrex 2000W inverter and 20A charger, a Raymarine SmartPilot course computer, and a Raymarine AIS650 Class B transceiver with MMSI 338146981.
- A generic Beneteau inventory page identifies the model as EC Category A for eight persons; that is meaningful design evidence, but the builder plate, AVS and STIX are still needed before treating ultimate stability as resolved.
- Recent receipts are the biggest condition improvement: two-coat bottom jobs in June 2023 and June 2025, a probable January 2024 packing-box/shaft-seal service, and a documented $2,273 February 2026 raw-water intake refit using a Groco ARG-750P strainer and Marelon valve/fittings.
- These records reduce expected engine, through-hull, drivetrain and fuel-system work without eliminating current inspection.
- The 2020 survey still controls historical condition and engine serial E10599; the current plate photo's E10598 candidate is too uncertain to override it, and both are above the early heat-exchanger threshold.
- The main remains a North 3DL Marathon 600 aramid laminate installed by 2013, now confirmed by its bag label, so replacement stays the prudent probability-weighted case unless a sailmaker passes it.
- Boat-attributed required-offshore work now totals $18.4k/$30.1k/$51.5k at face value and about $21.4k probability-weighted, plus $2.35k/$3.5k/$5.5k of search cost and about $11.6k of risk-weighted exposure.
- The decisive next evidence remains a current hauled moisture/structural survey, rig inspection, engine load test and sailmaker report; also verify the scope of the 2024 and 2026 invoices rather than paying twice for work already done.

Worst case, every line landing in full: $75,930. Planning figure is the likely cost above; this is the tail, not the expectation.
Resale
The gross figure flatters: Australian duty and GST fall due on sale, and brokerage is charged on the sale price.

Where to open
Asking price less $24,135 — the negotiable share of $28,600 in disclosed and suspected defects plus $11,625 of weighted risk. Offshore upgrades are excluded on purpose: a watermaker and a liferaft are your ambition, not the seller's problem, and the next buyer wanting a Bay daysailer would pay near the ask.

Schedule
A boat that cannot be ready is not cheaper, it is a year late.
How much of this is actually known
A boat priced from guesses is a different risk from one priced from quotes, at the same total.
